The third study visit, organized within A8. “Setting up professionals’ networks by exchanging skills and expertise in cardiology, obstetrics & gynecology, neurology, general surgery and intensive care”, took place between 11.03.2019 and 13.03.2019, at the premises of B3 – Clinical Emergency County Hospital Craiova, with Anaesthesia and Intensive Care specialists from Kozloduy and Craiova Hospitals.

The first day of the visit started with the presentation of the Intensive Care Department, made by Doctor Ionescu Mircea. Discussions about the number of doctors and assistants on the department, number of beds, number of patients each medical assistant takes care of, medical equipment, type of investigations took at each hospitals etc. were held among the specialists.

On the second day of the visit, the doctor and the medical assistant from Kozloduy participated to the activity in the Operating Room – anesthesia and assisted to a laparoscopic cholecystectomy on a 21 years old patient. Discussions about substances used for anesthezia, duration of the operation, medical equipment, intubation, type of operations made by laparoscopy etc. were held among the specialists.

On the third day, the specialists from Romania and Kozloduy participated to the medical activity within the anesthesia and intensive care department of the hospital. Doctor Mircea Ionescu and the medical assistant presented each of the cases of the in-patients – patients with haemorrhagic stroke, ischemic stroke, heart failure, pancreatic cancer, respiratory failure, trauma, etc. They discussed about investigations took for each patient, treatment, evolution of the patient and also about the risks of a longer intubation period.
